Galway Bay FM is a popular Irish Independent radio station that is local to Galway and is able to operate under its license that is from the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland. Originally being established in 1989, all of the broadcasts that the station does come out of their studios, which is located in Galway. The History of Galway Bay FM Radio Station
The Galway Bay FM Radio Station was not always the Galway Bay FM Radio Station. In fact, when it was originally launched back in 1989, it was actually called Radio West and was the very first local radio station to legally be operating in all of Galway. Several years after being established, Radio West would end up changing its name to what it is currently, Galway Bay FM, doing so in 1993.
In 2006, Galway Bay FM would be bought outright by the Connacht Tribune newspaper, who had previously 27% of the radio station. After their acquisition, they would own 100% of the radio station.
