THE WAX JACKET
I’m bringing the wax jacket back after a very long sabbatical. This functional staple was knocking round when I was in school; my sister had one and I thought it was terrible. But now I realise it was simply because it reminded me of school. Now, the navy and green tartan print is everywhere – my actual school uniform colours! But when an opportunity presented itself in Zara in the January sales, which I normally avoid, I just couldn’t say no!
This jacket was reduced to €21. It’s that green shade that suits absolutely everyone, especially red heads. (Hey how often do we get to say that? Joking, joking! Calm down!) I haven’t taken it off me since I bought it.
I normally hate sales. I think you need to really ask yourself, ‘do I need this’ and ‘is this really a bargain if I will actually never wear it’. Well this jacket has bucked the trend on sale shopping for me. It’s lined with a navy cord collar – jackpot, literally!
THE NOVENA CHIC STYLE FILES
It’s been all ‘Novena Chic’ for me over the past week as I did my annual daily trip to Galway Cathedral and of course documented my outfits and church style through social media. This was really fun this week, with a lot of mixed reaction to my choice of headwear, from being admired to being called a gobshite. I’m telling you, only in Ireland would someone tell you that you look like a gobshite and then ask you if you wanted to go for a coffee…
