Here are three current roles available through Volunteer Galway that you can get involved in:
Summer Volunteer Driver with COPE Galway
COPE Galway Community Catering Service delivers nutritious meals to the homes of older people or those unable to prepare a meal for themselves all around Galway City. Their team of drivers offer this service by multi drop deliveries on an agreed route across the week. They are looking for extra drivers over the summer who can offer one shift per week. Drivers must have an appreciation and empathy for the needs of clients and be fully qualified and insured with their own car.
Event Marshals with Galway City Harriers Athletic Club (8 August)
On Saturday 8 August 3,000 runners and walkers will take part in Kearney Cycles and Galway City Harriers Streets of Galway 8km road race. In order to get everyone around the course with minimal obstruction, a large number of marshals are needed. No experience necessary, all marshals will need to attend a race briefing from 5pm on the evening and will be required until approximately 9pm. Marshals will keep the race route clear and direct competitors on the course. Marshal t-shirt and high-vis jacket will be provided.
Beautician with Croi na Gaillimhe
Would you like to provide a once off demonstration on make-up tips for older women in Galway City? If you have beautician or make up artistry skills Croi na Gaillimhe are looking for a volunteer to deliver a one hour once off workshop for women attending their social club. This is an opportunity to demonstrate your skills and also give a little time to a worthwhile project.
