Galway has experienced a revolution in coffee consumption in recent years.
Several innovative and specialised coffee outlets such as Urban Grind, Badger & Dodo, Coffeewerk + Press and Tribeton, have provided Galway’s coffee aficionados and enthusiasts with an unrivalled choice supplied by both Irish and international producers.
It has also lead to innovation in the way coffee is prepared for consumption, with the city’s latest Michelin-starred restaurant Loam leading the way.
That being the case Galway’s newest and coolest restaurant and bar Tribeton, will be hosting the coffee showcase #FILTER GALWAY. This is a free event taking place on the afternoons of Saturday and Sunday 20 and 21 February, in which representatives from Urban Grind, Badger + Dodo, Coffeewerk + Press, Tribeton and Loam will explain and demonstrate five methods of brewing filter coffee, including Aeropress, V60, Chemex, French Press and Syphon.
Tribeton’s resident mixologist will also showcase several coffee-based cocktails that have proven popular since Tribeton opened.
On the Sunday, in association with Cloud Picker Coffee Roasters (a Dublin-based micro-roastery based in Sheriff Street) #FILTERGALWAY will conclude with an Aeropress competition open to all coffee enthusiasts, baristas and anyone interested in testing their skills with an Aeropress.
This is an informal contest where the goal is to have fun, expand networks and see what the local coffee community can do.
The winner will walk away with a 6-cup Chemex, a 250g bag of Cloud Picker single origin coffee and a voucher for dinner for two at Tribeton.
