Irish folk/rock legends Loudest Whisper play a special gig in The Side Bar at Monroe’s on Thursday, 12 May.
Led by songwriter and guitarist Brian O’Reilly, the legendary group formed in Fermoy in the 1960s. The group have since forged a career as one of Ireland’s finest bands, with over 45 years of music to their name. Their music has been described as a unique blend of folk, country blues and melodic contemporary rock, all shaken up with a dash of classic songwriting.
Their debut album ‘Children of Lir’ album (1975) has been ranked at 78th in the prestigious list of the 100 most valuable LPs of all time. Their three vinyl albums and all their vinyl singles have become collectors’ items. Over the years, members have come and gone, each adding his or her unique flavour to classic albums like ‘The Children of Lir’, ‘Loudest Whisper’(1980), ‘Hard Times’ (1982) and ‘The Collection’ (1991). Current members are Brian and Paud O’Reilly, and Paul McCarthy.
Loudest Whisper released their new album ‘Blue is the Colour of Time’ on Sunbeam records last year, their first new album in ten years. Their gift for songwriting and melody is as strong as ever and fans are in for a treat at Monroe’s!
