Most Leaving Certificate students had their graduation last week and with the recent bout of good weather combined with the excitement of graduating has made some students feel like they are in holiday mode.
With only one week left until Leaving Certificate 2017 begins, it is important that students remain focused. With up to eight subjects to cover it is important that students don’t leave any subject out in the final week. Students should draw up a schedule of revision for the final week, ensuring that they give their weakest subjects more time and that they don’t prioritise one subject at the cost of others. It is helpful to remind themselves that eaving Certificate points are calculated on their best ix subjects.
It is important to actively study in the final week, it is advisable not to just sit reading notes but to complete exam papers too. Students should also remind themselves that quality study is more important than the amount of hours they study for. We are not designed to be able to sit and concentrate for hours on end without taking a break. Study will be much more productive if you factor in regular breaks so make sure if you do a study session that you allow yourself some time off to relax. However it is important that you don’t get carried away and forget to get back to your studies!
Being in a positive frame of mind will have a positive impact when studying. It is important for students to remind themselves of how much they have done and practice saying positive affirmations over the coming days. After all, self confidence is one of the most important ingredients for success.
Finally, in the last week before the exams it is important that students remember self care. Getting out for a walk, doing a yoga class or simply factoring in some time for relaxation is also important.
