The Eskies have fully carved out their own unique brand of folk noir/gypsy jazz since forming in Germany in late 2006.
Band members Ian Bermingham – guitar/vocals, Tim George – bass/vocals, Steven Kearney – drums/vocals, Rob Murphy – mandolin/guitar and Sean O’Reilly – guitar/vocals lead their audiences into the dark side that makes them want to dance to sea-soaked waltzes and Italian tarantella.
Their debut album ‘After the Sherry Went Round’ is filled with beautifully crafted songs with lots of foot stompin’ rhythm. The band worked with instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and recent GoldenBeck headliner Gavin Glass on the album.
They have played Knockanstockan and Electric Picnic and supported The Hot Sprockets at Vicar Street. This is a rare chance to hear their mesh of gypsy folk live in Monroe’s BackStage Bar this Friday, 2 December. Doors 9pm. Tickets are €10/€8 online, visit monroes.ie for more information.
