Galway United 3
Bray Wanderers 0
Two goals fit to grace any match from Jay O'Shea and Cian McBrien, and a third late on from Jason Molloy were enough to hand Galway United all three points in Terryland Park last Friday night.

O'Shea's moment of brilliance at the midway point of the half lit up an otherwise drab first period, but the captain's strike was worth the wait. No danger was apparent when the former Bray winger collected possession on the edge of the box, and his drilled attempt seem destined for the car park. However, swirling off the outside of his right boot the ball flew into the top corner of Chris O'Connor's net.

Vinny Faherty had a guilt-edged chance to open the scoring five minutes before the opener, but after O'Shea squared to the striker he miss hit his effort from six yards and made the save simple for the Bray netminder.

McBrien added to the one-goal half-time lead 12 minutes after the restart with a strike every bit as sweet as O'Shea's. Faherty's and John Russell's work down the right found McBrien in acres of space 25-yards from goal and his crisp strike gave O'Connor no chance.

With his first involvement of note after his introduction, Molloy finished with style after Mark O'Toole's pass slipped him in on goal for his first goal of the season. Indeed the visitors should have equalised six minutes after half-time, but firstly McBrien cleared Dane Massey's headed off the line and Ryan dealt with Paul Byrne's point-blank rebound.

Galway United: Ryan; Conneely, Guthrie, Breen, Davoren; Cooke (Molloy, 77), Russell (O'Toole, 64), McBrien, McGrath; O'Shea, Faherty (Edwards, 58)

Bray Wanderers: O'Connor; Doyle, Folan (Tresson, 76), Webster, Massey; Kavanagh, Shields, Robson, McCabe; Byrne (Flood, 59), Mulroy (O'Neill, 64)

Referee: Neil Doyle (Dublin)
