Galway United's U-21 side cruised into the quarter-finals of the eircom League with a fine victory over the Kerry League at Terryland Park on Saturday. Billy Clery's young charges were on top from start to finish and could have won by even more. They got a perfect start with a goal from Alfredo Neto after a cross from Willie McDonagh. Neto hit the woodwork shortly after that while an effort from Cathal Fahy hit an upright as United took the game to the visitors but had to be content with a 1-0 interval lead. United sealed the issue just short of the hour mark when Fahy blasted home and Jason Molloy added a third seven minutes later. Galway United: Egan, Dowling, Sinnott, Conneely, McDonagh, Molloy, McBrien (Carrigan, 83), McCormack, O'Boyle (Cunningham, 65), Neto, Fahy (Lee, 75). Kerry League: Hennessy, Conway, Fitzgerald, Brosnan, Keane, Power, O'Mahony (Digg, 75), Holland, McCarthy (Clinton, 75), Kevins, Akon. |
