Galway United have been handed home advantage when they will take on Bray Wanderers in the quarter-finals of the FAI Cup.

Jeff Kenna's men defeated Bray Wanderers 3-0 when the sides clashed at the venue in the quarter-finals of the League Cup and United fans will be hoping for another success to secure a place in the semi-finals of the FAI Cup.

The match will take place on the weekend starting September 12.

In the other quarter-finals, holders Cork City will host Derry City, Sporting Fingal will play St Pat's and non-league Wayside Celtic meet Bohemians.

Meanwhile, there were mixed fortunes for three Galway sides in the eircom A league championship at the weekend with Salthill Devon going down 4-0 away to Derry City.

Mervue United enjoyed long periods of supremacy away to Sligo Rovers but just when it looked like they might score a late winner, the home side produced a storming finish to score three times in the final twelve minutes despite the heroics of former Galway GAA goalkeeper Brian O'Donoghue between the posts.

Galway United came away from Cobh Ramblers with a 2-1 win.
