Galway United will be bidding to bounce back from their defeat away to Shamrock Rovers when they entertain St Pat's at Terryland Park on Friday night (7.45pm) in a vital encounter. ![]() St Pat's, at one stage runaway league leaders, are smarting from defeat themselves having been knocked out of the FAI Cup in their own backyard on Monday night by Dublin rivals Bohemians. They went down 2-1 to ten-man Bohs and it will be interesting to see what frame of mind they are in for the visit to Galway. United fans will be hoping that Tony Cousins' men react positively to the worst defeat of the season when they went down 4-0 to Shamrock Rovers two weeks ago. It was the poorest display of the campaign and came after a five-match unbeaten run had pulled the side away from the relegation zone. But United will go into this clash without the suspended Stephen O'Flynn, Wes Charles, Derek O'Brien and John Lester. United's disciplinary record has been quite good all season and it is unfortunate that an accumulation of points has contributed to so many being at once. Cousins will have his fired up for this one and will be looking for the sort of performance which saw off the challenge of Sligo Rovers and then held champions-elect Drogheda United to a draw in the last two games at Terryland Park. |
