Galway United will make the short trip north to take on Sligo Rovers at The Showgrounds next Saturday evening with an 8pm kick-off.

Following on from the disappointing defeat at the hands of Cork City last weekend, Galway manager Billy Clery will have his work cut out to rally the troops before this vital Connacht derby. The Bit O' Red have begun the new season in fine form. They are unbeaten in their last three outings, have registered six points so far this season and secured a battling away draw against Derry City last time out.

The basic mistakes will have to disappear if United harbour any ambition in taking something from the game.

As with all local derbies, the formbook tends to be torn up and the team who wants the victory more usually gains the maximum points. This is a great opportunity for United to kick-start their campaign but they will have to raise their game to challenge the home side.
