Galway United have signed midfielder Ollie Fenn from Ipswich Town. The signing of the 19-year-old is a result of the recent link established between Galway United and Ipswich Town. NEW SIGNINGS...Two important signings in the past week for Galway United saw Denis O'Connell of O'Connell Drylining come on board as an associate sponsor while midfielder Ollie Fenn joined the club from Ipswich Town. They are pictured with Galway United CEO Nick Leeson. Galway United recently spent a week training at Ipswich in preparation for the new season. The talented Fenn (19) is a product of the youth academy at Ipswich Town. He played for Galway United in the 1-0 win over Athlone Town in a pre-season friendly on Thursday evening. Galway United manager Tony Cousins is delighted with the signing of the young midfielder. "Ollie is a very skillful player, he played against us over in Ipswich and it was clear to see the lad has potential. He was full time with Ipswich since the age of 16 and from speaking to Jim Magilton he believes he can only get better. "We were very happy to agree terms with Ollie and everything went through fine so he will be in contention for a first-team spot straight away. "Ollie was with Ipswich for nine years so it was difficult for him to leave. But he is excited by the challenge of playing for us and I believe he has great potential," said Cousins. Meanwhile, left-back Shane Tracy will go on loan to Limerick 37 until July in a bid to get more game-time. Manager Cousins believes that Tracy will progress well given the opportunity of regular first team football. "Shane is a smashing young player and I feel that we will see the benefit of him playing regular matches on his return in July. He will still be training daily with the Galway United squad in Drom and I wish him well in the next few months playing with Limerick," he said. The club has also confirmed that midfielder Greg O'Halloran has gone on loan to Shelbourne. |
