Galway United has launched a series of "Football Fundraisers" at Terryland Park providing clubs and other organisations an unique opportunity to raise funds. A selection of Galway United's high profile eircom League of Ireland matches is up for grabs for soccer teams, sports clubs and other groups the chance to raise significant funds without the hassle of having to organise events. Corofin United FC is the first club to take part in the scheme and will be having their "Football Fundraiser" at Galway United's home match against Shamrock Rovers on Saturday, March 29th. Corofin have been assigned up to 2,000 tickets for this match to sell in their locality and they will directly financially benefit from these sales. Tickets will be sold at the normal price for admission to Galway United matches but the participating club will retain half of the money for all tickets sold. Galway United chairman John Fallon said that the scheme works on the basis that there were a few thousand empty spaces at Terryland Park for most Galway United games. "We want to fill those spaces and the 'Football Fundraisers' will help us do so as well as strengthening our links with soccer clubs in the region, other sporting bodies and the community at large," he said. The initiative gives clubs the opportunity to use the Galway United product to help raise much need funds for developing the game at a local level. The participating club will be guests of Galway United on match night and underage teams from that club will participate in the half-time mini-games, with club profile in the match programme and other club media. In addition, Galway United players and management will be visiting schools in the participating club's area in the lead-up to the match. Through the sale of match tickets this unique initiative will provide clubs the opportunity to raise up to €20,000 while providing a fantastic night's entertainment for all associated with the club. Galway United will help roll out a full Sales and Promotional campaign through their experienced fundraising team and with the commitment of time and energy by a dedicated organising committee your Football Fundraiser will an enjoyable and rewarding experience. The following Games have been earmarked for Football Fundraisers:
