Over 50 teams from around the world have already signed up to compete in this year's Umbro Galway Cup, the country's leading underage international soccer tournament. Teams from Europe, US, UK and the Middle East will complete alongside local sides in this year's event, which takes place at Drom Soccer Park, home of Salthill Devon FC from August 5th to 9th. The competition is being staged for the fourth time, with Ipswich Town returning to defend their title. Denis Burke, Tournament Director of the Umbro Galway Cup, believes the competition is now an integral part of the soccer calendar. "Irish soccer is facing into a new and exciting era at international level. The aim of the event is to create an international competitive platform for young talented soccer players which will enable them to compete at an international level as they grow in their soccer careers".
