The official launch of the 2008 FUTURE Streets of Galway 8km Road Race will take place tonight at 6pm at the office of race sponsors FUTURE.

Members of Galway City Harriers will be present to launch the 2008 race which will take place on Saturday 9th August 2007.

Meanwhile, Athenry AC have announced its Fit4Life programme which aims to get runners ready to take part in this year's event.

Fit4Life is a programme for runners, joggers and walkers, to help them get motivated, fit and ready for the Streets of Galway event.

The focus is firmly on recreational walkers and joggers as opposed to competitive activities. The aim is to give absolute beginners a chance to avail of the club's facilities, contacts and knowledge-base to encourage basic exercise in a safe environment with the opportunity to meet other like-minded people.

The course is for everybody, male and female from 16 to 60+, who need some help getting fit or just want some company while enjoying fresh air and outdoor exercise.
