The rugby fraternity will welcome the Month's Mind Mass for former Irish rugby international Tony O'Sullivan on Saturday at 12 noon in the Jesuit Church Sea Road, given that he was buried in Dublin where he died on the 5th September.

In Sully's day the Connacht Senior Cup was the business. But with the advent of the All Ireland League and the professional game it has lost it's glamour of yore. Still Galwegians continue to specialise in the competition and won it for the 29th time on Saturday. The cup is being played for since 1896 and history is always being made. This final was notable for the number of non-Irish winning a Cup medal and another little nugget to emerge was a father and son winning Cup medals. It is a rare enough occurrence. On Saturday the Wegians' outhalf Cormac O'Beirne added his medal to his dad's Donal O'Beirne ? the Connacht team doctor - won in 1970 with College and 1975 with Wegians. Another nugget - when the dad won with Wegians in 1975 he scored the penalty and drop goal to beat Ballinasloe 6/0. And on Saturday young Cormac accounted for 12 of Wegians 22 points with a try, pen and 2 cons.
