![]() FINAL HURDLE . . . Galway United goalkeeper Gary Rogers whose side faces another tough encounter when they travel to play Bray Wanderers on Friday night. Eircom league Premier Division - Bohemians 2 Galway United 0 Bohemians ran out deserved 2-0 winners over Galway United at Dalymount Park in Dublin last Friday evening. United were always second best in this fixture and Bohs pounced for all three points with second half strikes from Chris Turner and Glen Crowe. The hosts had been in good form in the league but went into the game on the back of an eircom League Cup final defeat at the hands of Derry City the previous Tuesday. The Gypsies laboured at times in the first half but they finished the game strongly and are now staking a strong claim for second place in the table come the end of the season. United entered the contest only four points from safety and needed a result so the stakes were piled high when referee Anthony Buttimer started proceedings. Galway made a bright start but Bohs were awarded a seventh minute penalty when John Paul Kelly was fouled in the area by John Fitzgerald. Mark Rossiter drilled a venomous shot on target but Gary Rogers produced a smashing save to keep the game scoreless. The home side went close moments later when Chris Turner's slide rule pass released Glen Crowe but Rogers was inspired again and denied the former Republic of Ireland international. The lively Crowe could have scored in the 28th minute when Darren Mansaram exposed holes in the United defence but the flame-haired attacker rifled over the top. Kelly also had a chance on the half hour mark but was unable test Rogers as the sides ended the first half deadlocked. However, it took Bohs just eight minutes of the second half to break the deadlock when substitute Kevin Hunt rolled a neat pass to Chris Turner, who supplied a similarly sweet finish. And Harpal Singh's 83rd minute cross was bundled home by Crowe as Bohs claimed the spoils.
