The Rathún-An Chaisleán Nua minor team advanced to the next round of the championship after comprehensively beating Mountbellew/Moylough on Saturday evening at Abbeyknockmoy. At half-time the city side led by 1-9 to 0-4 points after a workmanlike display in the first half. Rathún remained in control throughout the second period and went on to win the game by 2-14 to 0-7 points. Rathún goalkeeper Darragh Cody and defenders Oisin O Maoiláin, Andrew O Halloran and Brain Kelly were solid throughout , James Ruffley and Gearóid O Connor dominated the middle third and, up front, twins Eoin and Diarmaíd O Connor, Cathal Treacy and Vincent Mullins were to the fore. Rathún now have remaining group games against Ahascragh, Skehana and Sylane. Meanwhile the Rathún-An Chaisleán Nua intermediates finished joint-top of their group with KIlimordaly and have been drawn in a preliminary quarter-final against Kilconieron. The juniors commenced their championship campaign with a good away win against Kilimor last weekend. They now face Castlegar in the next round. The summer Cúl Camps and VHI Cúl Camps will take place during the week of July 21st to 25th at Rathún's new pitch at Thonabrucky. For more information phone Tony on 086-2909762. |
