The process to find the new Galway football manager begins in earnest
tomorrow night when the matter will be discussed at a meeting of Galway
Football Board.
Confirmation that Peter Ford would not be continuing in the position
after three years in charge, has led to enormous speculation about who
will take over. It is expected that the Football Board will appoint a committee to handle the process of finding a new manager. Meanwhile, Alan Mulholland's minor team will be bidding to grab some football glory for Galway this year when they take on Kerry in the All-Ireland semi-final on Sunday at Croke Park. Kerry tried on Monday to have the game put back to Sunday week as a curtain-raiser to their seniors' semi-final with Dublin, but the game goes ahead as scheduled this Sunday at Croke Park (1.45pm) prior to the clash of Cork and Meath. Galway, having dethroned All-Ireland champions Roscommon on their way to the Connacht title, are back in Croke Park in this grade for the first time in twelve years. Meanwhile, there was no joy for the county's senior camogie side when they went down by 2-18 to 0-14 in the All-Ireland semi-finals at the weekend. Galway were in contention when they trailed by 2-7 to 0-11 at the break, but they fell away in the second-half and managed just three points as Wexford hit eleven. It has been confirmed, meanwhile, that the All-Ireland U-21 hurling semi-final between Galway and Cork will take place at Semple Stadium in Thurles on Saturday week.
