There were no major shocks in the first round of the Heineken Connacht Junior Cup on Sunday.
Holders Corinthians defeated Sligo by 28-7, while Galwegians were also decisive winners as they knocked out Gort on a 26-7 scoreline.

Monivea were also big winners when they accounted for OLBC by 23-6, while Ballinrobe saw off the challenge of Ballinasloe by 32-14 in the round's highest scoring encounter.

Westport defeated Dunmore 26-6 but it was much tighter in the two other games which went ahead.

Buccaneers defeated Corrib 6-3, while Loughrea held on for an 8-6 win over Ballyhaunis.

The clash between Portumna and Connemara did not take place.
