Dunmore MacHales Jimmy Halliday was elected as President of Galway County Board replacing PJ Callanan who ended his two-year term. Sean Fahy, Laurence Larkin and PJ Callanan were elected as vice presidents. There were no changes at the top table, but there was a strong contest for delegate positions on Connacht Council. John Fahy and Pat Egan were outgoing, but with Pat Egan stepping down after 13 years of service as a delegate, former Football Board secretary, John Power and long serving Caltra official, Mattie Kilroy along with Fahy were in a battle for the top positions. Fahy exceeded the quota by one vote in the first count and in the second ballot, Mattie Kilroy had six votes to spare as he took the delegate position on Connacht Council. Pat Egan replaces Bernie O'Connor as Central Council delegate. Officers elected were Chairman: Gerry Larkin (Tynagh/Abbey/Duniry): Vice Chairman: John Hynes (Liam Mellows). Secretary: Michael Monaghan (Turloughmore). Assistant Secretary's, Seamus O'Grady and John Fahey. Treasurer: Bernard O'Connor (Oranmore/Maree). Assistant Treasurers: Milo Costello and John McGann. Development Officer: Michael Geoghegan (Annaghdown). Irish Officer: Paid O Neachtain (An Spideal). Youth Officer: Mattie Murphy (Gort). Coaching Officer: Pat Monaghan (Craughwell). P.R.O. Pat Kearney (Kilbecanty). Delegate to Central Council: Pat Egan (Corofin). Delegates to Connacht Council: John Fahey (St Thomas'), Mattie Kilroy (Caltra). |
