Even in a year that saw two Rathún An Caisleán Nua teams reach county semi-finals, re-elected club chairman Robert Keane insisted that the new state of the art facilities in Tonabrucky was the club's major victory in 2007. Keane's remarks were made at the Rathún An Caisleán Nua 2007 AGM held in the clubhouse in Tonabrucky on Sunday night last. "This year, the key foundations were laid in order the make this club one of the top clubs in Galway," he said. The club members re-elected all of the officers from 2007 and Martin Joe Flaherty and Peter Gilligan were elected life presidents of the club, in recognition for their dedicated work over the years. For the first time, an Irish committee was established, as the club reaffirmed its commitment to the Irish language. "Irish is something the club will be embracing and nurturing throughout training and in the day-to-day running of the club" said John Keane, the re-elected treasurer for 2008. |
