Eamon Naughton from Galway has been elected as the new chairman of the eircom League.

The former Galway United official takes over from Athlone Town’s Paddy McCaul who has been elected as the new senior vice-president of the FAI.

McCaul will succeed David Blood as FAI President in 2009 and has stepped down, by rule, as eircom League chairman.

Eamon Naughton is the first Galway clubman to hold this prestigious post.
