An Cearnog Nua, Moycullen 72
AOL Broadband, Waterford 36

A severely depleted Waterford side proved no match for a rampant An Cearnog Nua, Moycullen, who eased to their seventh win of the season on Saturday in Leitir Mor.

The game was already over as a contest after a one-sided first quarter in which Moycullen opened up a 20 points advantage. The shell-shocked visitors managed just two free-throw shots during that period, while Cian Nihill was on fire for Moycullen, hitting ten early points, including two three-pointers. The impressive Garnett Griffin was also to the fore with six points of his own.

The long away trip seemed to have sapped the visitors' energy and morale and they looked powerless to stem the tide. Moycullen were already running the bench in the second quarter with Paul O'Brien and Tomas Gilson first into the fray.

Peter Losak – Waterford's most impressive performer on the night – managed two good scores, but by the end of the half, Moycullen led 34-8.

The third quarter was more balanced as Waterford, mainly through Losak, found some gaps in the Moycullen defence.

But Dylan Cunningham and Glenn Hynes responded by stepping up the home side's offence to further stretch the advantage to 55-23.

The last quarter was one for Moycullen's future with under-18 players Tomas Gilson, Cunningham and James Brophy all starring and Brophy and Cunningham combined for 15 of Moycullen's 17 points in the quarter.

Moycullen now look forward to a week that will decide their play-off fate. Victories on a difficult trip to Tralee next weeked and on the following Tuesday against Titans will guarantee top spot in the division and home court advantage in the play-offs.
