History beckons for the intermediate footballers of Moycullen on Sunday when they will run out in Croke Park with the task of bringing All-Ireland glory to the club for the first time. Dublin and Leinster champions Fingal Ravens will present the final hurdle on an inspirational Moycullen odyssey that has already claimed the club's first provincial title and seen off Kerry side Annascaul in a titanic semi-final. Moycullen will look for another heroic performance from Paul Clancy, who abandoned his centre-back berth to kick the two crucial scores that swung that semi. The free-taking of Philip Lydon and the ability of his brother Mark, who has made an immediate impression after being drafted into Liam Sammon's Galway team, to dominate the midfield exchanges could also prove pivotal. Whether Lydon's regular midfield partner Gareth Bradshaw will line out alongside him remains in doubt as Moycullen await final judgement on the appeal against his semi-final red card. The North County Dublin side are managed by former Dubs star Mick Deegan and overcame Cavan champions Ballinagh in a heated semi-final. They carry a strong scoring threat with Niall Tormey, Kieran Norton and Ian Kavanagh all sharing the load up front. |
