Galway United head south in search of victory on Friday night, when the take on Cork City in Turners Cross (7.45pm). Cork are on somewhat of a charge, finding themselves in third position in the league, mainly on the back of top-scorer Dave Mooney. Mooney, top scorer in the Premier Division last season despite playing with bottom-of-the-table Longford Town, has grabbed 11 league goals thus far. He landed two more last weekend and will be a huge handful for John Fitzgerald and company at Turner's Cross on Friday evening. United will welcome Wes Charles back into the squad are his brief hiatus, and are hopeful that Marc McCulloch will have returned to full fitness. Jeff Kenna and Ian Foster will have registered as players by Friday night so there is a possibility of each making their playing debut. Cork defeated UCD last weekend with two more Mooney goals and will be hoping to gain maximum points from the visit of bottom of the table United. However, United seem to raise their game for the bigger sides, and Turners Cross may witness this on Friday night. |
