Galway hurlers will look to continue their unbeaten start to the National League season when Tipperary are the visitors to Pearce Stadium on Sunday. Having impressed in the opening round defeat of Clare, Ger Loughnane's side weren't nearly as convincing in Tullamore last time out, when an understrength Offaly reeled in a five-point lead to take a share of the spoils. After sliding out of the limelight last year, Ger Farragher looks to have rediscovered his scoring touch this campaign, notching ten points against Joe Dooley's men. David Forde and Kerril Wade also had their moments, but Loughnane will hope Iarla Tannian can reproduce the form he showed against the Banner, after a quiet display against Offaly. Tipperary have full points from their opening games and look to be responding well to the new management of Liam Sheedy. They dealt comfortably with the Offaly challenge in the opening round and fired an impressive 2-20 in a comprehensive demolition of Limerick last time out. The Tipp attack has been in potent form with Eoin Kelly appearing to have put last year's indifferent displays behind him. Beside him, Lar Corbett seems to be benefiting from a run of games untroubled by injury, and his trademark searing runs will test the Galway rearguard. Having conceded six goals in their two games so far, it is in this sector that Galway will be looking to tighten on Sunday. If they can nullify the threat of Kelly and co, a win would leave the home side strongly placed for a spot in the knock-out stages. |
