Mervue United 1
Bohemians 1
(Bohs win 7-6 on pens)
Ten-man Mervue United exited the Dr Tony O'Neill Under-20 Cup on Sunday with a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat, after a spirited display saw them all square with the Gypsies at full time.

Mervue - who had Dave O'Brien red-carded after 40 minutes – matched their Dublin opponents for long periods and can count themselves unlucky to have missed out on the decider with Cork City.

Bohemians opened the scoring after 55 minutes through Mark Hughes who finished at the second attempt, but Neil Douglas was on hand to fire an equaliser four minutes later, after Shane Maher's shot was saved.

After a scoreless extra-time and 12 consecutive penalty completions, Maher missed for the home side and Philip Hand crashed home the winner for Bohs.
