Good turnout at Rathun/An Caislean Nua parish leagues E-mail

The second night of the Rathun/An Caislean Nua parish leagues took place on Tuesday 19 August at Thonabrucky at 6.30pm.

"The parish league was started in order to promote the game in the new estates in the area. It was also developed to further the development of the game of hurling in the area. It is a promotional exercise that provides fun and enjoyment to children whilst the learning the skills of hurling.

"This was the second evening of the parish leagues and again it was a great success with over 30 children taking part. The parish league will run over four weeks with 30 different children talking part each evening," said a spokesperson for the hurling club.

The leagues are ran by senior team members and senior club officials and it is open to everyone in the Rahoon Newcastle catchment area this also includes Rosan Glas, Bothar Stíofan, Clybaun, Kieraun, Mincloon and Ballymoneen

It will run every Tuesday at 6.30pm in Thonabrucky and new participates are always welcome. Anyone who is interested in playing should just turn up to Thonabrucky at 6.30pm.
