Sligo 2-13 Well-taken second-half goals from Dermot McTernan and Kenneth Sweeney helped Tommy Jordan's men bounce back from last week's defeat by Galway with a one-point win over GMIT at Markievicz Park. The Connacht champions were made work hard for the win by an enterprising GMIT outfit, with lively forwards Michael Martin and Michael Conroy shooting nine points between them. The students had led at the interval thanks to first half goals from John Hayes and Donal Vaughan. Jordan will be delighted with the showing of his forwards, all of whom found the target, with Philip Gallagher swinging over one superb score from a sideline. Paul Conroy came off the GMIT bench to nap three points while Sean Davey scored on his introduction as sub as Sligo went five clear and looked to be coasting with 15 minutes to go. But a late rally from the students slashed the deficit and Sligo were glad to hear Haulie Beirne's final whistle.
