Cork 0-20, Galway 3-6 Galway Under 16 girls lost the All Ireland football final against Cork by five points at McDonagh Park, Nenagh. Reigning All-Ireland champions Cork raced into an early lead but when Deirdre Brennan goaled for Galway, the Tribesgirls were back in the game. Nicola Kilgarriff added another and when the half time whistle sounded Galway led by 2-4 to 0-6. Substitute Sinéad Dilworth broke the Galway hearts in the third quarter scoring four points and at the three quarter stage the Rebels led by 0-13 to 2-4. Orla Finn was also causing a lot of problems to Galway and finished with a personal tally of nine points. Nicola Kilgarriff scored her second goal and Galway's third, six minutes from the end but Cork finished the stronger with four unanswered points.
