Galway 3-10, Dublin 0-6

Liam Donoghue's Galway camogie side almost ensured a place in the Gala All Ireland Senior Camogie Championship semi finals when they defeated Dublin with relative ease at Killimor on Saturday.

The Metropolitans started well and outscored Galway by 0-3 to 0-1 after twelve minutes with Niamh Taylor, Louise O'Hara and Alison Maguire to Galway's sole reply from Niamh Kilkenny.

Early in the third quarter Brenda Kerins set up Deirdre Burke for a Galway goal and from there the home side began to dominate. Burke added a point before Therese Maher watched a goal effort blaze into the side netting. Galway got a second goal five minutes from the break when Orla Kilkenny delivered to Brenda Kerins who rifled a blistering effort to the top corner of the Dublin net.

Jessica Gill landed a pointed free and Galway led by 2-3 to 0-3 at half time. Dublin scores were sparse in the second half, but they had a real chance when Alison Maguire won a penalty for Dublin midway through the half.

Ciara Lucey struck her penalty well but Galway custodian was up to the cause as Susan Earner made a splendid save. Moments later Jessica Gill delivered a long ball into the path of Mollie Dunne, the Galway substitute rifled the ball to the back of the Metropolitans net and that sealed Galway's victory.
