Connacht scored four tries for the second time in Scotland this season but, like their trip to Glasgow last time, once more found it was not enough to secure victory. Edinburgh 49 Connacht 31 In the end Connacht were undone by a series of errors which were punished each time by an Edinburgh side who ran in six tries in an open contest in front of 1,824 fans. Both teams declared their intentions from the outset to run the ball at every opportunity and it was Connacht who hit the front after seven minutes when quick hands put Conor McPhillips in at the left corner. But Edinburgh clawed their way back into contention and drew level after 15 minutes when Rob Dewey had an overlap on the blindside to touch down. Edinburgh were then gifted a try after 22 minutes when Connacht failed to secure possession from their own throw five metres from their line and Edinburgh flanker Alasdair Strokosch gathered to score. Former Scottish fly-half Duncan Hodge added the points and did likewise nine minutes from the break when Dewey got in for his second try after a break by Simon Webster to put them 21-10 in front. Connacht got a lifeline two miniutes from the break when Paul Warwick broke to send McPhillips over in the left corner for his second try, with Warwick landing the touchline conversion to reduce the deficit to 21-17. Hodge landed a penalty to make it 24-17 at the break before Edinburgh put real daylight between the sides within a minute of the restart when Samoan scrum-half John Seino darted over. The game ended as a contest after 51 minutes when Simon Webster ran in their fifth try after collecting a loose clearance, with the superb Hodge landing his seventh kick of the night to make it 41-17. Danny Riordan got in for Connacht's third try after a superb break by Conor O'Loughlin but Webster responded with his second try of the night four minutes later. Connacht lock David Gannon secured a bonus point for Connacht four minutes from time when Riordan put him through for their fourth try of the night.
