Ireland A flanker John Muldoon has pledged his future to Connacht. The 24 year old, who is due to return to action on Saturday against the Ospreys having been out with a broken cheekbone, has put pen to paper on a one-year extension. Muldoon, a native of Portumna, is a former Galway minor hurler who was introduced to rugby in the local community school before progressing through the ranks with Nenagh and Galwegians. Indeed, Muldoon had the distinction of playing in Lansdowne Road with the Irish youths and for the Galway minors in Croke Park within a matter of weeks of each other. An engineering graduate, Muldoon has established himself as a regular in the Connacht back row in the past few seasons. "I am enjoying my rugby and am dying to get back in action after missing the past few weeks. "We have not got the results our performances have deserved a lot of the times this season, but only we can change that and I am delighted to be staying on board," said Muldoon. Connacht CEO Gerry Kelly said it was a great to see home-grown players pledging their future to the province. "John has been an excellent performer for Connacht over the past few years and it is great to see indigenous players doing so well and then pledging their future to Connacht. "John is a player who is destined to go all the way and I know he will be a key player for us over the next few seasons," said Kelly. |
