Ger Farragher inspired a late Galway rally to defeat Limerick in a senior hurling challenge match to mark the official opening of new dressing rooms at St Brendan's Park in Loughrea on Sunday night.

Ger Loughnane and Richie Bennis used the occasion to give a run to as many players as possible and it was Limerick who settled quicker and deservedly led by 0-10 to 0-6 at the end of the opening half.

Three points from Michael O'Brien pushed Limerick into a 0-13 to 0-7 lead in the early stages of the second period, but the introduction of Farragher turned the game in Galway's favour.

Farragher scored six points, four of them from play, to haul Galway back into contention and they sealed the win with scores from Alan Leech and Aidan Harte.
