Gort 2-19, Kinvara 2-12 Last year's runners-up Kinvara bowed out of the Galway SHC title race as neighbours Gort put in a commanding second-half display at Loughrea yesterday. A goal from former Galway star Ollie Fahy just before the break put Gort on the road to victory as they came from behind to lead by 1-9 to 0-8. Fahy ended with 1-5 from play in a commanding performance while Andy Coen was superb in defence in the second-half for a Gort side that improved as the game went on. Paul Killilea also found the net for Gort as they killed off a Kinvara revival which was started by a David Huban goal from a penalty. Damian Huban landed two sideline cuts but the issue was well beyond Kinvara by the time Shane Kavanagh struck their second goal late in the game.
