Priestland responded almost immediately and then indecision in the Connacht defence gave Priestland the chance to reduce the margin to just two with seven minutes on the clock. Connacht knew they could not concede a penalty inside their own half and just when it seemed they had survived, they were penalised for not rolling away and Priestland pushed Llanelli in front for the first time with his effort from 45 metres. However, that was merely the cue for Connacht to regroup and fashion a great win.
