Dunmore MacHales, the third most prolific winners of the Galway senior football championship, are back in the intermediate grade again. Dunmore, fifteen times winners of the championship but without a title since 1983, lost their senior status for the second time in recent years when they were defeated by 0-9 to 0-6 in a league relegation play-off. Meanwhile Moycullen, who will be going in the opposite direction after winning the intermediate championship, could add a league title to their great year. They defeated Lettermore by 1-15 to 1-5 in the West Board final to set up a county intermediate league final with a Kilconly side who ousted Monivea Abbey by 1-9 to 0-9. In hurling, Athenry are on the march again at underage level and will take on Liam Mellows this weekend in the U-21 A final after their 0-14 to 0-12 win over Mullagh. In the U-21 B final, Moycullen will bid to bring more silverware west of the Corrib when they take on Killimordaly. |
