Former Clare and Caltra boss Frank Doherty has taken charge of Cortoon Shamrocks and is hopeful of building on the progress made in recent years by Derek Savage's men. Doherty, who guided Caltra to their first county senior title in 2003 and then took them to All-Ireland glory the following March, will take over a Cortoon side who won the senior A league last year. And with former All-Ireland minor star Michael Martin being joined on the county senior squad by David Finnegan and Donal O’Neill, the prospects are bright for a side, which will again be driven by Savage. "They reached the county final the year before and I'm looking forward to working with them and hopefully progressing it a bit further," said Doherty who spent the last two seasons managing Clare, guiding them to win the McGrath Cup in his first year. |
