The Galway minor hurlers will have one eye on a Kilkenny rematch as they face Waterford in the semi-final of the championship in Croke Park on Sunday. The kittens already secured a two-point win over Tipperary in Sunday's first semi-final and Mattie Murphy's side would dearly love another crack at Kilkenny after last year's final heartbreak.

However, with a Waterford side impeding their progression to the decider, nothing is guaranteed and the Tribesmen must repeat their quarter-final form should they hope to qualify.

Antrim were completely dismantled by Galway in the quarter-final and they finally ran out 4-23 to 0-10 winners. The potency of the Galway forward will be hard to contain and the Deise must find some way of quietening the front six who bagged 4-19 of the total between them.

Gort's Richie Cummins was the star of the show with a personal tally of 2-2, but 1-5 from Brian Flaherty from wing-forward was also an impressive total. However, Waterford are no push-over themselves as they defeated an impressive Tipperary side in the Munster final by three points – their first title at this grade for 17 years. The Galway rear-guard will have to be on their toes as Waterford midfielder and captain Martin O’Neill bagged ten points of his side's tally that day.

With eyes on the final prize it would not be a surprise should Waterford shock the Tribesmen; however the determination to erase last year's slender defeat to the Cats should drive Murphy's men to another decider.
