Bray Wanderers 1 Galway United came from behind and secured a valuable away point in an entertaining encounter at Carisle Grounds on Friday night. A Stephen O'Flynn penalty cancelled out a Bray lead after they themselves were awarded a spot kick. Bray took the lead in the 33rd minute with Alan Cawley getting his second goal of the seaon against United. Cawley's through ball was chased down by Paul Dunphy. He put Wes Charles under pressure as Gary Rogers came out to clear. It rebounded off Dunphy who was pulled back by the former Wanderers keeper in the box as the ball ran goal-wards. Referee Alan Kelly awarded a penalty, booked Rogers and Cawley converted in off a post. But United drew level with a spot-kick of their own eight minutes later. John Lester went down under Ray Kenny's challenge and O'Flynn make no mistake from the 12-yard dead-ball. United were on top for most of the second-half but just could not grab a winner with John Russell going close and Lester seeing a free flash the wrong side of the crossbar. Bray Wanderers: Williams, Ivory, Delaney, Kenny, Cronin; Caffrey (Onwubiko, 28), Cawley, Duggan (McCabe, 15), Kavanagh, Fox, Dunphy (Tresson, 82). Galway United: Rogers, Keane, Nooitimeer, Fitzgerald, Charles, Murphy (Russell, 58), Foley (O'Halloran, 82), Lester, O'Brien, Glynn, O'Flynn. Referee: Alan Kelly (Cork). |
