Sligo IT 1-9 NUI Galway 0-10
A goal from a penalty by Michael Doherty just before the break was the decisive score as Sligo IT booked a place in the Connacht FBD League final at Dangan on Sunday. The Sligo college built on their impressive displays against Roscommon and Mayo to book their place in the decider against Galway. But they didn't have it all their own way at Dangan and a superb performance from David Conway for NUI Galway helped the home side to an early lead, as the full forward scored five points in the first half. Trailing by 0-8 to 0-5 coming up to half time, Sligo IT got back on level terms when Doherty fired home the game's only goal from a penalty. Sligo IT closed down the NUI Galway attack in the second-half and secured victory thanks to the accuracy of Doherty.
