![]() It certainly doesn't get much more difficult for Connacht as they try to bounce back from their heavy defeat away to Newcastle with a trip to Cork to take on Munster. The game will take place at Musgrave Park on Thursday, December 27, as Connacht bid for their first win over Munster since the game went professional. Indeed, Connacht have not beaten Munster since winning 11-9 in Thomond Park in November 1986, although there have been a few close games in recent years. Connacht's primary is to get to play in the Heineken Cup ? they are the only team in the Magners League not in it this season ? and finishing above one of the Irish provinces would seem the better route. The alternative is by winning the European Challenge Cup but that seems a much taller order, not least as Ulster are there for the taking this season. Connacht will wait to see how their injury list is after the Newcastle game on Sunday ? centre Mel Deane and out-half Tim Donnelly picked up injuries ? before naming a side to take on Munster. Munster are three points off leaders Leinster having won half of their Magners League games this season. Connacht are currently above Ulster on points difference and will entertain Llanelli Scarlets at the Sportsground on January 4 before returning to European action when they travel to Spain to take on Cetransa El Salvador. |
