Photo: Brendan Moran/Sportsfile Collins said that Galway had voted for change and that the best way forward for hurling nationwide was for the Tribesmen to move into Leinster next year along with Antrim. And he appealed for the Leinster counties such as Wexford, Offaly, Dublin and Westmeath to revisit their decision to oppose the plan. "The Galway players made their feelings known on the matter and it is great that delegates in Galway have backed the players. "The current system does nothing for Galway. What is being proposed is not only good for Galway but also good for Leinster hurling. "It is now vital that other counties get behind the proposal and vote accordingly in Croke Park on Saturday," said the Liam Mellows clubman. Collins said the decision taken at a special Galway GAA Convention at the Raheen Woods Hotel in Athenry on Monday night was a positive one for Galway. "It is time to leave the past behind us and look to the future. It is the 2009 championship we need to be looking at and the years beyond that, not what happened 30 or 40 years ago," said Collins. |
