The Galway club hurling championship will not restart until 20 September, once the intermediate, minor and Under-21 county teams have ended their respective campaigns. Secretary of the hurling board, John Fahy, confirmed that no club action will take place for the next six weeks while all the inter-county action finishes up. "Should the intermediates, minors or Under-21s be successful, a lot of players would be tied up because of that. That would take a lot of players out of action, which no club wants," said Fahy. Meanwhile, the football championship action will recommence on Saturday 15 August, with two matches taking place in Tuam Stadium. Salthill-Knocknacarra face St Brendan's in the early clash while Caltra face the up and coming Tuam Stars in the 7pm throw-in. The following days sees another double-header at the north Galway venue as Annaghdown take on Mountbellew-Moylough and Corofin face Killererin. The semi-finals of the football championship will than take place on the weekend of the 12 and 13 September with both the senior and minor finals taking place on 4 October. |
