Galway Athletics clubs can look forward to investing in new equipment after Athletics Ireland informed clubs around the country of successful applicationa for the Small Equipment Grants Scheme. 113 clubs in 24 counties will receive grants with the Clubs within County Galway benefiting from grants totaling €8600.

In all, Athletics Ireland received €350,000 from the Department of Art, Sports & Tourism Capital Grants programme in 2007 in order to run the equipment grants scheme.

Athletics Ireland sees clubs as the 'backbone' of the sport and feels it is very important that clubs are supported in their endeavors to provide accessible quality athletics for all.
