Calasanctius advanced to the quarter-finals of the All-Ireland Schools Cup after surviving a difficult away trip to Castleblayney in Monaghan to take on Our Lady's.

The home team started with a zone defence which was hard to break down, and also played good transition offence, catching Calasanctius out several times in the first two quarters. However, eight first-quarter points each from Liam Conroy and David Hansberry helped Calasanctius establish a 25-16 lead.

The home side had the better of the second quarter, and reduced the deficit to 43-28 by half-time. Our Lady's also started the third period well and after a minute the lead was just one point. However, Calasanctius then stepped up a few gears with Conor Foley excellent.

Cathal Finn and Liam Conroy passed, assisted and scored both inside and outside. Gritty defence from George Rahmani, Conor Graham and Brendan Considine slowed the home offence, and David Hansberry powered home some good inside buckets.

By the end of the third, Calasanctius had a 73 ? 57 lead and the result was secured. In the last quarter, Dáire Greene hit a big three, Andrew Brennan and Conor Graham scored inside and Cillín Folan hit a baseline jumper. Céimin Burke and Kenneth Hansberry shared duties as guard and Calasanctius won well in the end, 95 ? 67.

Calasanctius: George Rahmani (4), Dáire Greene (3), Cathal Finn (14), David Hansberry (18), Conor Foley (19), Kenneth Hansberry, Andrew Brennan (3), Liam Conroy (16), Brendan Considine (11), Conor Graham (4), Cillín Folan (3), Céimin Burke.
