Man of the match: Michael Meehan. The Caltra star has had great days and great scores, but the quality of some of his scores from both feet was awesome. Seldom does a player on the losing team take this accolade, but he won this one hands down.

Score of the match: Late in the second quarter, Michael Meehan collected a long ball from Padraig Joyce and closely marshalled was left with little room to score. From an almost impossible angle Meehan sold a dummy, before causally kicking the ball over the bar from a near impossible angle to leave Galway just three behind. A class score.

Save of the Match: Diarmuid Murphy made a bad call for Bergin's goal. But he made amends with timely interceptions from Michael Meehan and Joe Bergin late in the third quarter.

Miss of the Match: Near the half hour mark, a Padraig Joyce free went to Barry Cullinane who failed to hold it and the ball fell to Kerry who quickly dispatched the ball to Declan O'Sullivan. The Kerry attacker raced forward and split open the Galway defence with ease, before unleashing a blistering effort off the post and wide. It should have been a classic goal, but instead was a dreadful miss. That miss kept Galway in the game and they were just two behind at the break. Turning point: Midway through the second half Galway led by two points and were looking good when a needless reckless foul was committed on a subdued Kieran Donaghy by Galway substitute Niall Coleman who rightly received a yellow card. Bryan Sheehan duly pointed and it became the first of six in a row of Kerry points that left Galway from two points up to four points down.

Talking point: Had Joe Bergin been fully fit would Galway have won. Are Kerry good enough to win an All Ireland?

What's up next: Kerry meet Cork in All-Ireland semi-final, Galway's interest in 2008 championship is now over and their next competitive fixture will be in the national league next February.
