There will be a Galway United supporters bus going to Sligo on Saturday for the game against Sligo Rovers.

We enjoyed many aspects of the County Football Final on Sunday even if it was not vintage stuff. We spotted the van parked in the grounds of Scoil Einde alongside Pearse Stadium. Parked prominently at the entrance it had four big blue flags fluttering from the roof. Every single square inch was painted in small blue and white squares. It probably took every waking hour since the semi-final to paint it. It was perfect. Painted discreetly on the back of the van was 'Fox Championship' We got the message. Luv'd it. Probably a long trip home to Cortoon. Whoever was responsible brightened the day. Thanks for that.

But then we enjoyed the match programme itself with generous helpings of information and history. Yes, we know the template is probably there but still it makes good reading. A good production.

But we can't hear the damn public address on the far side. We didn't know it was Sean Cleary and Frankie Kyne who were presented to the crowd until we saw it in the programme.

On 34 minutes Corofin still trailed by 0-2 to 0-3. Tony Goggins missed a sitter (easy to judge these things on the terraces!) to put Corofin ahead 1-2 to 0-3. A magnificent point by Gary Sice from the sideline on 36 minutes sent the sides in at halftime three points a piece.

Fifteen minutes later David Warde kicked a beautiful point after Mickey Costello made the ground. Cortoon led by one, a surprise in store.

Later Michael Martin had a free hit the upright and a chance to equalise at five points a piece was lost.

Alan O'Donovan had a magical point from way out on the left with only six minutes to go. Corofin led 7/5.

Cortoon 'keeper Adrian Ansbro made an excellent save just before the end. We certainly enjoyed that.

Bad game maybe, but still lots to enjoy.
